It's already been a week!!

Can't believe it's already been a week since we got here.  It has gone by very fast.  Probably because there has been so much going on.  Revival was still going on last week.  We were getting to know the boys again after being away for awhile and getting settled in to our home away from home.  Saturday was a day of fun and lots of preparation for the celebration at church Sunday.  It started with 32 people getting baptized in the ocean at 6 am.  Then a cow was killed for the feeding of the community after the 4 hour church service Sunday.  There are always things going on with the boys so I wouldn't have time to mention all of those.  Sunday was a wonderful day even though we fought the powers of evil all day and into the night.  The generators quit working so there was no power at the church for a while.  The tarp in front of the church kept blowing away. There was a fight in church with one of our boys and another boy, and 2 other fights with our boys.  One of the street boys fell in the yard and gashed his brow.  It took 4 butterfly stitches and it really needed the real thing.  He ended up getting new shoes, clothes and a cap so his pain was not in vain.  Through all these things the Lord provided enough food to feed close to 1000 people.  What a blessing to see all those men, women and children being fed.
This has been a hot, humid week but today we had some relief.  There were bands of storms that came through from the hurricane that went by us and provided some much needed rest from the heat.
We have been in the process of re-inforcing rules and regulations that have been in place but not enforced.  This has been an adjustment for all but it seems to be working well.  The boys aren't in school yet so they have lots of free time during the day.  We are working on filling some of that time up.  There is never a dull moment here and not much spare time to relax.  We are taking the boys to the beach about 10 - 15 miles away tomorrow if the weather permits.  The rain may flood the roads that we have to travel on so that would prevent us from going.  We are all looking forward to it so God willing that will be our day tomorrow.
Now it is time for a bucket bath with water that I really wish was cooler than it is.  (Can't believe I said that :)
Please pray for peace and brotherhood between the boys.  There has been lots of fighting between several of them.  It's hard to know what kind of lives they had before coming here but now they can know the love of their heavenly Father and His grace and mercy in their lives.
Please pray for Ron and I to receive wisdom and much patience as we learn to love and care for these boys.
Also pray for strength and continued good health for all here.
We love you all and truly need the power of your prayers as we fight the battles before us each day.
God bless and keep you well!

A HOT day!!

I am writing this very early in the morning.  Last night was not for internet.  Yesterday was very, very hot.  Spent half the day in town shopping for supplies that aren't available at the mission.  Nothing like shopping at home.  That was my first trip on the downtown streets.  Not anxious to go back!!
The revival ends tonight.  This morning as every morning is prayer meeting.  From 4:30 till whenever......
Tomorrow at 6 am there will be about 30 people getting baptized.  Praise the Lord for souls being saved.  Sunday will be a big celebration and feeding at least 1000 people.  Killing a cow tomorrow for the feeding plus other food to add to it.  Pastor Andy is tired but Father gives him strength to run from before daylight till way after dark.
Please continue to pray for lives to be changed through this ministry and continued strength for the long weekend.

Bonjou from Haiti!!

We made it.  Got here yesterday 8-24 at about 12:30 pm.  Goodness, it is hot!!  Couldn't post last night because the internet was being stubborn and we were worn out from very little sleep.  We rested well last night (except for the mosquitos:(  )  and had a very busy day today unpacking ALL of our bags.  (All arrived here in record time, I'm sure!!)  Praise the Lord for that blessing.
We are on the roof but are not in a tent.  We are living in the girls dorm at this time.  No power or lights but much more comfortable.  We are truly blessed to be here.
There is lots of work to be done here.  Lots of evil spirits around.  The 3 interns here saw evidence of them a couple of nights ago and last night.  We know that Father has His angels of protection all around this place.  Please pray for His continued protection.
One of the interns, Lisha, has been sick today.  Please pray for her.  Ron and I are resting and well.  Just trying to adapt to the heat.  That may take some time.  Looking forward to what tomorrow will bring.
Love to all and thanks so much for your prayers.

Packing bags!!!

Well, we have most of our bags packed.  I am totally in awe of how Father has provided for us.  I thought a few weeks ago that we wouldn't even need two bags apiece because we didn't have anything to take with us.  Now we have all bags filled to the max and one extra and could still use some more room.  Our Father has supplied in amazing ways, all the way to a total stranger in Wal-Mart giving us a large donation.
We are very excited and anxious to get to Port-de-Paix and begin the work Father has planned for us there.  We know that He has worked all things out according to His purpose and as I said before......we see our faith growing each day.

We have a few prayer requests to mention and we thank all of you who have been praying and continue to pray for us and the people of Haiti.

1) Pray for a safe trip.
2) Pray that ALL of our luggage makes it to our destination, and all the contents.
3) Pray for our health while we are there. Too many diseases to mention.
4)Pray for the health of the children in this ministry.
There have been a few small children who have been in and out of the hospital
   in the last few weeks.
5)Pray for us to have the wisdom to teach and strength to keep up with these children.

We will arrive in Port-de-Paix on Tuesday.
Stay tuned as we will be updating regularly...

We have tickets...

We now have our airline tickets and official dates and times of departures and arrivals.  We will be leaving Nashville on the 23rd of Aug. and arriving in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on the 24th of Aug.  From there we will fly to Port-de-Paix, which is a short flight.  We will be in Haiti for 31/2 months, which means we will be arriving back home on Dec. 6th.
Our time here at home grows short and still much to do to get ready.  Father continues to supply and bless us each day.  I have to say that even though it is stressful preparing for a trip like this,  it is exciting to see our God and Father work out all the details for us.
Without "Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think"  we could not do what He has called us to do.

Getting Prepared...

Praise the Lord, I have created my first blog... and this is my first post!!
Thank you for following us as we prepare to go to Haiti for 3 months.  You can also follow along as we share from Lashbrook Family Ministry in Port-de-Paix.  We are excited to have this opportunity to go and serve the people of Haiti.
Right now we are looking at leaving on the 23rd of August, (yes, about 3 wks. from now) and returning on Dec. 6th.  We will be purchasing our tickets in the next few days.
Our faith grows stronger as we prepare for this mission, knowing that "God is going to supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus".
We ask for your prayers as we prepare.
Thank you.
